In the first edition of IPL 2008, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was at the top of his T20 career. In 2007 he won the T20 World Cup and got attention from every corner of the country. His abilities to lead the team, good batsman, a perfect wicketkeeper, and match finisher make him demanding for every team.

So in the 2008 IPL auction, Chennai Super Kings bought MS Dhoni for 9.5 crores and since then if we leave a few exceptions, Dhoni is associated with Chennai Super Kings and has led Cheenai to three IPL titles.
2014 and 2015 were Yuvraj Singh's days when he was bought at 14 and 16 crores by RCB in 2014 and by Delhi Daredevils in 2015.

Sam Curran bought by Punjab Kings for18.5 crore in the 2023 IPL auction, England's allrounder was the player of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, and since September this year, he has taken 25 wickets in 14 T20s at an economy rate of 7.08. He has also improved his batting, especially against spin: in 31 T20 innings since 2020, he has an average of 27.07 and a strike rate of 154.69.
